The philanthropic mission of James Doran Company is focused on taking
what we know best and applying it to an area of great need - affordable
housing.
In 1992, company Chief Executive Officer Bob Doran and his wife Tracy
founded Humanities Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to
answering the need for affordable housing in the Charleston Tri-county
area. Since that time, Humanities Foundation has produced over 800
units of affordable housing in the Charleston area. In addition,
through its ShelterNet Program, they have helped over 15,000 individuals
and families at risk of losing their homes by providing emergency
financial assistance.
The mission of Humanities Foundation is to end homelessness throughout
the Southeast by increasing the availability of affordable housing
through nonprofit housing development, rental and utility assistance,
technical support, advocacy and education. Humanities Foundation
facilitates the creation of affordable housing by serving as a general
partner to access funds available only to nonprofit developers. The
Foundation finances the project, contracts with engineers, architects
and builders to complete construction, and provides oversight of a
professional management company to market, lease and maintain the
property.
Bob Doran serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Humanities
Foundation, Tracy Doran as President of the Humanities Foundation and
Shane Doran as Member of the Board of Directors.
James Doran Company is pledged to the letter and spirit of the U.S. and
local policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity through
the Nation. We encourage and support affirmative advertising and
marketing programs in which there are no barriers to obtain housing
because or race, religion, sex, handicaps, familial status, elderliness,
or national origin. |
