Three New Buildings and Anchor Tenants Kick Off Phase II at Downtown Daniel Island
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- With the signing of Carolina First Bank and Ali Baba Restaurant as major tenants, James Doran Company announced Phase II plans are underway in Downtown Daniel Island for three new buildings that will add 30,000 square feet of new retail and commercial space.
“We’re pleased to initiate Phase II development with these attractive new buildings and to add Carolina First and Ali Baba to Downtown Daniel Island’s appealing retail and commercial mix already in place,” comments Eric R. Smithers, Executive Vice President of Operations and Marketing for James Doran Company.
Carolina First has signed on as the main tenant of Building 1000. The bank will occupy 3,000 square feet of the approximate 5,000 square feet brick building, which is located on Island Park Drive.
The other two buildings -- Building 500 and Building 600 -- will be located side-by-side on Seven Farms Drive across from the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center. Ali Baba, an upscale Mediterranean restaurant, has signed a lease agreement to occupy the end-cap. Building 500, a one-story brick structure featuring a patio area and 9,098 square feet of office and retail space.
Building 600, a two-story office/retail brick structure is also located directly next to Guggenheim Park. A neighborhood style restaurant/bar is in negotiation to become a key tenant for the 20,912 square feet building, which also features patio dining.
Buildings 500 and 600 are in review for building permits and should begin construction this summer with approximately an eight-month building schedule. Officials from the company anticipate that Building 1000 will follow immediately, whereby construction could be going on simultaneously.
Downtown Daniel Island, the 10-acre mixed-use town center owned and developed by James Doran Company, is located in the affluent coastal island community of Daniel Island just off Interstate 526, which loops around Charleston with ease of access to the historic district and Interstate 26.
Space is available for office, restaurant or retail usage in a variety of size configurations throughout the town center development, which is within walking distance to 800,000 square feet of Class A office space and 1300 apartments, condominiums and town homes.
