Humanities Foundation® and James Doran Company Commit $100,000 to Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
CHARLESTON, SC --" Humanities Foundation®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing, and James Doran Company, a Daniel Island-based real estate investment and development company, are pitching in to help the thousands of people in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Each company will contribute $50,000 to the hurricane relief efforts for a total $100,000 with the goal of getting water and food to the people who need it most. Company executives are determining today the best way to disseminate the funds immediately to answer the most urgent needs.
The Humanities Foundation® has established a special fund to allow the public to donate to the cause through the Foundation. Those wishing to support the effort may call the Humanities Foundation® at (843) 284-5152 or visit their Web site at www.humanitiesfoundation.org to contribute. Donors may designate their funds go to the Humanities-Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund via the pull-down menu on the donation information page. Those contributions will go 100% towards the relief effort and are tax-deductible.
"It is our organization's mission to serve as an advocate for the homeless and those with very low incomes, and these are some of the people most dramatically affected by this catastrophic event," says Tracy Doran, president and founder of the Humanities Foundation®. "We hope that by contributing to the efforts we can help meet some of the most urgent needs for this population and make a tragic situation just a little bit better."
